Womanhood has been the common thread in my work over the last 15 years. How we can claim and create space, both physically and figuratively. Through natural light and often minimal compositions my images show a delicate balance between vulnerability, trust and strenght. How do we stay connected? In my images you can find the exploration of the continuous transofmative phases of womanhood. Caputuring life through a lens of appreciation for the every day life. I capture stories as they unfold. Sometimes, I create them through conceptual work, with carefully chosen prints available for sale. At home, I cherish life with my husband and three kids. I love getting to know new people or being reunited with them through my work as a photographer. My lens is drawn to authenticity — cause in the end thats where real value can be found, the ones that hold real wealth.

Maartje & Stefan - Wat zouden we iedereen een Sonja gunnen op hun bruiloft of event! Vanaf het eerste moment was ze zo mega fijn om erbij te hebben. Warm, gezellig en ontspannen, waardoor niet alleen wij, maar ook onze gasten zich meteen helemaal op hun gemak voelden bij haar.
Sonja weet alles super mooi vast te leggen, zonder dat het geforceerd of geposeerd voelt. Ze geeft hele fijne aanwijzingen wanneer dat nodig is, maar zorgt er ook voor dat alles spontaan en natuurlijk blijft. Ook heel veel kleine blikken, emoties en momenten zijn tussendoor super mooi vastgelegd.
We hebben een enorme hoeveelheid prachtige foto’s gekregen en kunnen onze hele bruiloft hierdoor opnieuw beleven. De sfeer, de mensen, de emoties; alles zit erin. Ook haar nabewerking vinden we ontzettend mooi: warm en sfeervol, maar tegelijkertijd artistiek en bijzonder.

TEXTURES & LAYERS -
De editorial shoot waarvan de stof al een duidelijk lijnenwerk had en vormen als blaadjes. De taart vol met golvende romige lagen en ronde bolletjes. De muren met ornamenten en versieringen welke uitsteken, bloemdelen als repetitie achter elkaar geregen. Borduursel op de stationery en de zon welke het contrast zo scherp maakt. Dit soort eigenschappen zijn een visueel eye candy. Het vastleggen van de essentie van deze elementen voelt heerlijk.
